Objectifs du module

The space in which we live can be monitored in many aspects and it appears as a flux a gradient of data in continuous evoluton and change. Our understanding of surrounding environment is improving every day due to our ability to scan and sample the environment around us at increasing resoluton using even better technologies and sensors. Thus the space is revealed as an ever changing data field and our capability to act and design the space itself can be enhanced by the use of tools able to inform the design processes with more accurate specifc and variable in space and tmex data streams.

 

The module will allow the students to form an understanding of design data integration responsive morphologies algorithmic strategies in the design and architectural content. All those skills are necessary in order to embed in the architectural design responsiveness features.

Programme du module

The 'inFORMed design' master module will focus on Grasshopper's nature as an information processor and how it can be used in order to manipulate data streaming inputs from various sources and use data feeds to inform geometry and design processes from the very simple up to more complex ones. It is a powerful informaton processor that enable the designer to develop processes and strategies to inFORM design responsive morphologies by specifc set of data conditons. The module will focus on integrating information processing into digital systems. The aim is to give an understanding of information and data artculation as a spatal and architectural operation. The Master module will explore architectural and design applications of the following :

 
  • streaming and read data from different sources
 
  • advanced mesh modeling techniques
 
  • data embodiment strategies
 
  • data-driven and responsive morphologies
